3.1.4.1. Point to our hosting domain that is not registered with us
We recommend placing the domain on our NS so that if the web server's IP address changes, it will automatically change in the domain settings. In this case, the IP change will occur seamlessly and without any downtime for the sites.
By setting our NS
When using this method:
- After setting our NS, changes to domain records will be made via our control panel. Domain settings from the previous NS owner's panel will no longer work.
- If the hosting IP address changes (for example, due to technical requirements or when migrating a hosting account), the domain settings will change automatically. No manual changes are required.
- Domain renewal will be carried out via the current registrar, as before.
- Add a domain in our control panel.
- In the control panel of the current registrar, set our NS for the domain.
- If the registrar only has two fields for specifying NS, specify any two of our NS.
- You do not need to specify the IP addresses of our NS in the current domain registrar panel; leave these fields blank.
- If the registrar does not allow you to change the NS without specifying the IP, first make sure that you are making changes in the correct section. If the section is correct and the IP addresses are indeed necessary, you can find them yourself — to do this, simply run the ping command for each of the NS.
- If the domain's mailboxes are to be hosted on third-party mail servers rather than ours, set the MX records for that service in the domain settings. The host/server names should be confirmed with the service providing the mail.
- Wait for the DNS cache to refresh. This usually takes a few hours (maximum 24).
By changing address records
Attention!
We do not recommend using this method, as it will prevent you from enjoying a number of cloud hosting benefits, and we cannot guarantee that your site will function properly. When using this method:
- Changes to domain settings are made in the current NS owner's panel. Domain settings from our panel will not affect the domain's operation.
- If the hosting IP address changes (for example, due to technical reasons or when migrating a hosting account), you will need to manually make changes to the domain settings.
- Domain renewal will be carried out via the current registrar, as before.
- In our control panel, copy the main IP addresses of the hosting account where the site is hosted.
- Go to a panel of the owner of current NS.
- If the domain's mailboxes are to be hosted by us, please also specify our MX records.
- Wait for the DNS cache to refresh. This usually takes a few hours (maximum 24).
